Kathleen and I went to Breitenbush last weekend. If you don’t know about this idyllic forest getaway I suggest you check it out! For two full days we relaxed by soaking in the hot spring pools, eating delicious food, getting massages, wandering in the woods, and reading quietly in the library (there is no internet or phone service here). We stayed in cabins heated by the hot spring water, surrounded by giant evergreens.
Here are a few photos Kathleen took of the grounds. Thanks Kathleen!
We tried out some new classes. One was a hatha yoga class led by Shalom Mayberg. I cornered him after class and he agreed to be our fitness model for the October Five – thanks Shalom! Here’s a little more about my new friend:
Shalom Mayberg is a sound healer and yoga teacher based in Portland. He offers seven crystal bowl sound baths a month and teaches Yin and Restorative Yoga weekly at Yoga Union and Yoga Pearl. Shalom has a gentle yet grounding energy about him as he helps people to relax and reconnect. Find out more about Shalom by visiting his website SHalom360.com and on Instagram: Omshalom.pdx or on FB at Shalom Mayberg and Shalom360.
The October Five:
This month we work hip strength with the Clamshell. Puppet Arms is a pec release. Thread the Needle is a thoracic spine twist. King Arthur works leg strength and balance, and is a great hip stretch. And Dancer is also an excellent balance pose/ hip and quad stretch.
Want to see these in person? join us for a class, or meet up with Anne for a one on one.
