Foot Soak At Feel Good Feet

event_space

Come relax with us!

Next month Sellwood foot spa Feel Good Feet hosts Anne McCranie, owner of Fluid Movement + Massage for a night of TLC for your feet.

Indulge in a foot soak, and learn a simple home care routine for happy, pain free feet.

Along with the soaking tubs Feel Good Feet offers ionized water, intuitive readings and reflexology treatments. Reflexology is based on the idea that points on the soles of the feet correspond with specific organs. Stimulating these points by applying fingertip pressure supports the entire body and provides deep relaxation.

What are your plans today? I have friends coming over to BBQ. One of my buddies is following a paleo diet so I made sugar free ketchup for her burger. Also on the menu Laura’s Sour Slaw, vegan and paleo friendly.

Here is her recipe…

Sour Slaw

Ingredients:

  • 1 head green cabbage, 1/4 slices
  • 4 sprigs fresh oregano (or 2 tsp dried)
  • 1 Jalapeno, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Put all ingredients in a pot and cook over medium-low heat, no lid, for 20 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Delicious by itself or on a burger or baked potato.

Happy 4th of July!

Healty Habits Trump Willpower When We Are Under Stress

According to a recent study during times of stress we tend to go with our established routines.

donut text 6.13

Researchers at USC studying college students and found that:

We are just as likely to default to positive habits, such as eating a healthy breakfast, getting massage or going to the gym, as we are to self-sabotage. This research shows that lack of control doesn’t automatically mean indulging in unhealthy behaviors; it’s the underlying routine that matters, for better or worse.

Students who ate unhealthy breakfasts during the semester – such as pastries or doughnuts – ate even more of the junk food during exams. But the same was true of oatmeal eaters: those in the habit of eating a healthy breakfast were also more likely to stick to routine and ate especially well in the morning when under pressure…. And regular gym-goers were even more likely to go to the gym when stressed.
